Our annual Best of Dallas awards are around the corner, which means you can vote for your favorite local people, places and businesses. But this year, to shake things up a bit (and because we know how much you love to Instagram stuff) we're having a Best of Dallas Instagram contest.

Send Instagram photos of your favorite people, places, bands, concerts, bars, after-hours spots in Dallas to instagram@dallasobserver.com by Thursday, September 20. Don't forget to include your name. We'll post our favorites around the time we announce our Best of Dallas winners. Snap to!

Why not just set up an account on instagram (ex: @dallasobserver) or ask people to use a hashtag (ex: #bestofdallas, #dallasobserver)? I have a feeling more people would be apt to do that rather than take a picture, go to their gallery, and e-mail that file to an e-mail address they'll have to  remember. I'm not bitching, just saying that might be an easier way to receive entries

 @monstruss Yeah, we thought about that but decided to do it this way to keep the entries a surprise until we post our favorites. Are you going to send in some pics?
