ACL 2012 Announced: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Iggy & the Stooges and More

The Austin City Limits Music Festival line-up was announced at midnight, and I'm kind of miffed that RHCP are billed above Neil Young & Crazy Horse. Beyond that, you've got the usual ACL formula: the top tier of tried and true go-to festival acts (no surprise seeing the Black Keys or Jack White on this bill). Then there's the acts I barely know (AVICII, who is possibly the "new" Skrillex?) stacked higher on the list than actual talent (Gary Clark Jr.). You've got the one-hit wonder contingent (Gotye, I hope for your sake, you're still relevant in five months) and then the odd assortment of emerging artists towards the end that are far more interesting (Zola Jesus, Father John Misty, Big K.R.I.T.).

The whole line-up is below. Who are you excited about? Who were you hoping for?

Too far. Report on concerts within a 50 mile radius for crying out loud.

The conflict with the Texas/OU weekend this year loses a lot of the draw and hype for ACL in Austin. I think ACL's playing it safe and not going all in on a deep lineup.

I'm saving my money and vacation day for FFF7.

I'd drive down just for the Shakes.

It's not Neil Young.   It's motherfucking Crazy Horse.

good stuff, I'll probably go check it out. I could give two shits about Coldplay, Kanye pandemonium, the fucking Eagles, Dave Matthews Band as headliners.

But I'm a huge Neil Young fan, love Iggy and the Stooges (need to be higher on the bill) and ok, RHCP. They provided an insight to a smart-ass 7th grade shit like me what it was like to deal with heroin...or something. Some other acts I'm interested in too.
