Watch: Saille Branch & the Big Benders' "29 Days"
Back in 2010, I was privileged to be a regular judge for that year's edition of the Shiner Rising Star contest. The band that won the very first round I helped judge, Saille Branch and the Big Benders, went on to convincingly win their second round match-up and almost took home the overall prize after a scorching set in the final night of performances. I remember during that electric gig in the finals, former Cowboys Assistant Coach and current Hat Tricks owner Joe Avezzano said the Big Benders "scared him a little."
Here we are a couple of years later and the mix of outlaw country, punk and muscle are still key traits for Branch and his gang. The band premiered their video for "29 Days" at Hank's in McKinney last night, and we're giving it a proper blog premier. It's a fun but dark video that was produced and filmed by Melissa and Dale Arnold of Highway 82 Productions on location at the old Dallas City Jail. Be sure to enjoy the credits and bloopers at the end of the video, too. Read the names of area musicians who starred in the video, and you'll understand why you recognized so many faces.
