Final Fridays Returns With Bavu Blakes, Chucky Sly and More
With Dallas hip-hop experiencing a surge in popularity, it's refreshing that some of the former big dogs are coming out of the dark to join in on the fun.The A-Teem, the duo of Viz Walker and Jonathan "Fatz" Dangerfield, are bringing back what was a hip-hop staple in Deep Ellum for most of the Aughts. Final Fridays makes its return tomorrow at LaGrange.

Final Fridays was a monthly showcase featuring an soul-inspired lineup of urban and hip-hop music, and included such local greats as Pikahsso and Tahiti (of P.P.T.) and Headkrack from the Rickey Smiley Show and Strange Fruit Project, the crew that features S1. That's the same S1 who collected a platinum record for his work on Kanye's last album. Final Fridays was a vital part of the scene for nearly a decade, and their last showcase was in 2009.
The A-Teem are dubbing this "A Night of Nostalgia." Dallas legend Bavu Blakes makes a local return with some new music. Bodega Brovas are fresh off a European tour supporting Tanya Morgan. And one of the most solid emcees to ever roam the streets of Dallas, Chucky Sly, is set to do a special birthday performance. Loose Cannons, Fort Nox and DJ Whiz T also appear on the lineup.
