St. Vincent Pays Homage to Elvis Costello on Conan

It's no secret St. Vincent has a certain affection for pop-punk heroes a few generations back. Note her impressive collaborations with the Talking Heads' David Byrne, which include live performances, a record and an interpretation by a 12-piece marching band. Now St. Vincent (er, Annie Clark) seems to be having a little more fun.

Last night on Conan, St. Vincent performed her new single, "Cheerleader," but first she and her band kicked into the opening riff of Elvis Costello's "Radio Radio." They played a few bars of the song and Clark turned and stopped her band, just like Costello did on his infamous performance (shown above) on Saturday Night Live in 1977. Do I smell a new collaboration?

Check out St. Vincent's nod to Costello and her song "Cheerleader."
