Kelly Clarkson Endorses Ron Paul, Shit Hits Fan

498064-kelly-clarksonthumb.jpg
Last night, Texas' own Kelly Clarkson did something Americans do: She casually endorsed a candidate for President on her Twitter account. That person was fellow Texan Ron Paul. Cue Twitstorm.

Today she clarified her stance, sort of:

"I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite."

Should be pretty cut and dry, right? But no, the Internet threw its tomatoes at her.
Beyond the political debate it ignited about whether Paul is a racist homophobe, people took this opportunity to take shots at Clarkson's appearance ("she looks like she also endorses Twinkies") and talent as well. I wonder if the hate would have been as white-hot if, say, a male pop star had made the same statement.

In the bigger picture, isn't this announcement rather inconsequential? In fact, is any other "celebrity" even endorsing Ron Paul? Let the woman have her opinions.

Oh, Clarkson rolls into the Verizon Theatre on Friday, February 10.

What other celebrities are endorsing Ron Paul? Really??? Shouldn't you have checked that before writing this article? I will help you: http://powerwall.msnbc.msn.com... (you can use this for other candidates as well). For Ron Paul you will see: Chuck Norris, Vince Vaughn, & Rapper Prodigy. Also, didn't you see the Michelle Branch semi-endorsement in researching for this article? This paper might not have any credibility, but check this out too: http://blogs.dallasobserver.co...

Kelly Clarkson needs to endorse Jenny Craig. And that is all.

Iowa GOP explains moving vote tabulation away from HQ1774 precints-how does one have campaign representatives for each precint accomapny the votes to where tabulation happens? 6 candidatesx1774 precients=10,000+ individuals in the night moving the votes to a 'location'? Won't happen..3 people cannot keep a secret(location). So the ballots will be in the posession of the few. Will they be 'stuffed'? Precounted and first? Locked in a box during transport? 1774 locks? 1774 boxes? Won't happen. Will the transporters be searched first, will they be trailed, will they bemonitored in the transport vehicles, will the vehicles be search before transport and after? The Party is simply moving off-site-NOT SIMPLE.said it was only to avoid a sabotage.- When simplicty is gone..duplicity steps in.Those slips are collected, taken to a table, and counted in the open.- To bad people are emotional about their candidate, too bad the democratic process is some times messy, arguementative. Too bad it is inconveinent to have to deal with the basic premiss of one person one vote. The answer is not to avail simplicity where there can be no simple solution, the answer is to avail an open vote. Deal with it GOP. Like it has always been dealt with, infront of everybody, no secret location, no unknown transfers

The problem with the kind of government, or lack of, that Dr.Paul endorses is one that will not last(or be conducive) within the confines of the multi-cultural society, in which, we all now live. Dr.Paul's libertarianism would suffice in the 18th-19th century, but in the here times...not gonna happen.

You might want to stop listening to the elite controlled media. Have you noticed ANY of the polls? He's winning everything! If there is another election, and if it's NOT rigged completely, Ron Paul WILL be your next president! He's the only one worthy of the position.

In my eyes, Kelly Clarkson just became sexier.

When a public figure endorses one candidate over another in the general election, he or she must know that 50% of people are going to be unhappy with their choice. When they do the same in one party's primary, that number jumps to like 90%. The key is not giving a shit.

It is really a sad day when someone can't express their opinions without ridicule!  People ridicule them surely have  opinions don't they?  They just don't now how to express them in a civil manner!  BTW  Ron Paul stands for individual liberty and freedoms, not a white individual, not a black individual, but personal liberty and freedom for ALL individuals!  If anyone knows anything about Libertarians, they cannot be racist, for one simple reason, the believe in all individuals freedoms!

Have people EVER been able to express their opinions without ridicule? Expressing an opinion publicly opens you up to criticism and ridicule. It's part of the game.

Also, and trust me on this, racism knows no political divides.
