A Spune Christmas, Moby, Man Or Astro-man? and a Very Solid Weekend of Shows

Telegraph Canyon headlines A Spune Christmas at Dada
It's a big weekend for shows any way you cut it. Tonight's A Spune Christmas party at Dada with Telegraph Canyon and Air Review is certainly one of your better options, especially if you like free tacos and free beer. Saturday night, however, is stacked with shows.

It's going to be hard to decide which ones to go to, but pay close attention because we've got a list of worthwhile concerts, starting with the ones we've been talking about all week.

Tonight, Jack Ingram will be at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth, and also in Cowtown, Charlie Mars will be at Lola's Saloon.

On Saturday, Lizard Lounge celebrates 20 years in business with a performance from Moby, Devin The Dude will be at Granada Theater, Man Or Astro-man?, and Mind Spiders will be at Sons of Hermann Hall, Bob Seger will be taking care of business at American Airlines Center, and Daniel Hart, Comrade and Matthew and the Arrogant Sea will be at City Tavern. Also, check out The Gorehounds at Bryan Street Tavern, and over at Pastime Tavern, Mallwalker, Spacebeach, Xander Harris and Eyes, Wings & Many Other Things will perform.

That's not all. Hit the jump for more of this weekend's shows.
M80s
Friday, December 16, at Glass Cactus

The M80s don't claim to be the best '80s cover band in the world. Rolling Stone magazine actually labeled them the worst, according to the M80s Facebook page. They started out in Britain, but somehow got wind of the Mid-Cities cougar circuit, where they've been performing for years.

Clint Black
Saturday, December 17, at Rio Brazos Live

Good for that short guy on The Apprentice. He's trying his hand at a career in country music. Good luck!

Pat Green
Saturday, December 17, at Billy Bob's Texas

Speaking of heavy-hitting country acts playing in Fort Worth this weekend, Texas country mainstay Pat Green will be doing his usual once-every-three-months gig at Billy Bob's Texas. His music has gotten cheesier as his career has progressed, but can you blame him? He's become one of Texas country's biggest stars.

Gramatik
Saturday, December 17, at Green Elephant

Slovenian DJ and producer Gramatik makes hard-hitting beats that are all but impossible not to move to. Probably why he's spent the last two years performing at large music festivals, so this show at the relatively small Green Elephant will be an interesting chance to see him up close.

Possessed By Paul James, Kody Jackson, Dim Locator
Saturday, December 17, at Dan's Silverleaf

Boerne, Texas resident Konrad Wert, who makes up Possessed By Paul James, is a brilliant one-man band who specializes in moving, somber folk music. His moving performances and strong songwriting keep his fanbase growing and him on the road.

Holiday Spectacular w/ Sundress, Schmillion, Hope Trust, Soviet, Paper Robot
Saturday, December 17, at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios

Also in Denton, this holiday show being put on by a new Denton rag, Dentoneer, and features some of little d's best, including Sundress and Hope Trust. There will be a wide range of genres represented from Soviet's punk, Hope Trust's Americana and Sundress' psychedelic indie rock.

A Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis Christmas Show
Saturday, December 17, at The Kessler Theater

Speaking of Christmas shows, this one at the Kessler will happen twice tomorrow; once at 5 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. And, for anyone familiar with this married couple's work, they can expect to hear some Christmas songs. Robison and Willis released a Christmas album in 2003 called Happy Holidays.

Skylar Grey
Saturday, December 17, at Rio Room

Skylar Grey is one of these songwriter types who've written some huge songs, but have never really stepped out into the spotlight. After writing the music for Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie," Diddy-Dirty Money's "Coming Home" and T.I.'s "Castle Walls," which featured Christina Aguilera, Grey is striking out on her own.

Thunder Road (Bruce Springsten Tribute)
Saturday, December 17, at Tolbert's (Grapevine)

This could be remarkably good, or remarkably bad. Your guess is as good as mine.

Hurt (acoustic)
Sunday, December 18, at La Grange

Are you bummed you missed Staind the other night? Well, this is basically the same thing.

... and that's it from us. We hope you have a great weekend, and we'll see you back here on Monday.
