Tonight's 45 Fest at Dada Remembers Frankie Campagna and Adam Carter

Categories: DFW Music News

It's been nearly a year since the devastating news of Frankie Campagna's suicide rattled the Dallas music community. Only three months later, when the wound was still fresh, Campagna's Spector 45 bandmate, bassist Adam Carter, followed in his footsteps.

Now, a year later, the dust has settled for some, but others are still deeply affected by the deaths of these two local musicians.

Tonight, on what would have been Frankie Campagna's 25th birthday, friends are keeping their band's memory alive with a Deep Ellum music festival at Dada called 45 Fest. Though the two young men will be remembered here (an album of Campagna's unreleased music will be made available at the festival), their story is just a jumping-off point. The purpose of the festival is to raise mental health awareness and the fact that it's largely ignored and often praised in the music community.

A good handful of bands have signed on to perform. That list follows after the jump.

Tonight's bill:
8:30 p.m. - Jim Suhler - indoors
9:00 p.m. - Josh Fleming of the Phuss - outdoors
9:30 p.m. - The Black Habits - indoors
10:00 p.m. - the Mike Haskins Experience - outdoors
10:30 p.m. - Dog Company - indoors
11:00 p.m. - Hello Lover - outdoors
11:30 p.m. - Here Holy Spain - indoors
12:00 a.m. - The Assassins - outdoors
12:30 a.m. - The Sellouts - indoors
1:00 a.m. - The Marfalites - outdoors
Cover for this event is a $10 minimum donation at the door. Considering the above list of the bands and the cause, that's a solid take.
