Longtime Deep Ellum Talent Buyer Scott Beggs Officially Teams Up With La Grange
"We are thrilled and honored at the same time," says Stephanie Schumacher says in a press release announcing the partnership, which can be read in full after the jump. "The fact that someone as highly regarded as Scott sees the potential in the venue - and for him to tell us we have set the right foundation - we couldn't be more excited. LaGrange has been a labor of love for us, and we couldn't have asked for a better match to come to the table."
Last month, Schumacher said that she and husband Rob had reached an "exhaustion point" in running the venue.
Today, Schumacher tells DC9 that, while little has changed as far as the room being up for sale, this new development should take a lot of the work burden off of her family's shoulders.
"It's always for sale," she says. "But until the right offer comes in, this take a huge burden of time off of our hands. We knew he can do this 10 times [more easily than we can]."
Beggs has a long history of booking punk and rock bands to Deep Ellum, having spent time as a talent buyer at Trees and Gypsy Tea Room. More recently, he booked Nerkomantix to play a sold-out show at La Grange.
