Spune Moves Fall Social Out of Denton, Signs Bethan and Welcomes Home Its Boss

Lots of Spune news to share today, the first of which being that the company is hosting its "Fall Social" and return-to-school bash tonight, but in a new location. In Deep Ellum. At Dada. And, notably, not in Denton, where it's been held in the past.

For one thing, that's a pretty sure indicator, lest recent bookings haven't already made as much relatively clear, that Spune, once a staple booking entity in the Denton scene, is moving many of its shows out of the college town and into the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. Interesting.

[Update at 3:08 p.m.: Spune checks in to note that it already has some shows coming to Dan's Silverleaf in Denton in the near future, including Cymbals Eat Guitars, Nurses, Felice Brothers, Dark Dark Dark and Peter Wolf Crier.]

Regardless of the change in location, tonight's event should still be a good time. The two-stage affair will feature performances from Balmorhea, as well as Spune roster members Telegraph Canyon and Seryn.

Plus, the event, which costs $15 to attend and will feature free beer and barbecue as supplies last, will also feature a performance from Spune's newest roster addition, Bethan, the latest project from former Novaak chanteuse Jessi James, which we introduced you to a few weeks back. But none of this really compares to the best news of all out of Spune camp today.

In a note to DC9 HQ this afternoon, Spune's second-in-command Glen Farris, who has been helming the Spune ship as founder Lance Yocom has been holed up in an Arizona hospital, passes along this word: "Lance is finally home, doing more rehab and slowly recovering, [and] starting to work some."

Awesome news. Welcome home, Lance!
