Health and John Maus to Share New Year's Eve Bill at New Denton Space The Warehouse

Speaking of interesting show announcements, New Year's Eve just got even more exciting: Almost two weeks after the folks behind Lights All Night announced the beyond-insane bill for their sure-to-be-extravagant two-night affair at the Dallas Convention Center on December 30 and December 31, the Denton-based talent buying upstart Denton County Proper has announced its own New Year's Even affair. And what this bill may lake in flair it more than makes up for in terms of hipness.

On New Year's Eve, in the somewhat new-ish space attached to Denton's The Panhandle House, called The Warehouse, Denton County Proper, which we introduced you to back in early August, will host performances from Los Angeles-based noise rock outfit Health (see above video) and critically acclaimed synth pop provocateur John Maus, as well a sets from Denton's own Coves (the latest project from Caleb Ian Campbell). According to DCP's Matthew Gray (also of Matthew and the Arrogant Sea), the night will likely also feature some other locals and potentially even some more national acts to be added in the near future.

Mostly, Gray says, he's excited to make use of The Warehouse, a 3,800-square-foot facility located just off the square in downtown Denton, which Gray calls, without hesitation, "an amazing space."

But, turns out, Gray's also got some other interesting shows coming to some other interesting venues in the tippity top of the North Texas region.

On Saturday, September 24, Gray is throwing a ten-band concert featuring The King Bucks, Somebody's Darling, Whiskey Folk Ramblers and others on a 30-foot stage near Hidden Cove Marina on Lake Lewisville. Promises Gray: "It will be the last chance to really get out there and enjoy the lake this summer."

Perhaps, but you'll have to wait even longer for this intriguing bill he's working on, too: On Friday, February 10, Denton County Proper will also house a block party in Denton featuring performances from Low and Akron/Family. More bands will be added in the coming weeks, Gray promises.
