Granada owner Mike Schoder says "Read this item!"
No, we weren't exactly floored back in June when the news came down that the Granada Theater had booked '80s new wavers The Fixx to play their annual anniversary party celebrating Mike Schoder's ownership and management of the restored venue.

Turns out, though, any sentiment at all was for naught: The show, set to take place on Wednesday, August 3, in celebration of seven years with Schoder at the revered venue's helm, was canceled earlier this week. The Fixx are claiming illness, leaving the Granada somewhat out to dry.

But not for long: This afternoon, the Granada announces that it has rescheduled its anniversary show for October 6. Only, this time, it won't feature The Fixx at all. Instead, Portland folk outfit Blind Pilot will do the headlining and heavy lifting. Not a bad fixx at all.

(See what I did there? Of course you did. High five.)

After the jump, check out a press release from the Granada explaining the switch and hyping what they're calling their "Lucky 7 Anniversary."

Pete Freedman is an idiot. If you think the Fixx is "lame", you've never seen them in concert. They're one of the top 10 live bands I've ever seen, and that list includes the Who, Bob Dylan, Foo Fighters, and, yes, the Hives. I sincerely hope the Granada books the Fixx again in the future, so they can make all you haters eat a big plate of crow.

Pete,    Were you dumped in the 80's while a Fixx song played?  Why the animosity?  I wish the ill member of the band a speedy recovery.

The Fixx was in! Ha! I hope the illness isn't as terminal as the band's lame ass music. The Granada deserves better. Can they just bring back Mission of Burma or The Walkmen?

I take it this means a whole new slate of supporting acts on the bill as well?
