MP3 Premiere: Madison King -- "Nazarene"
| G. Marc Benavidez |
| Madison King |
Produced by Chris Carmichael at Junius Recording Co., the East Dallas production house responsible for phenomenal recent area releases from The Beaten Sea, lalagray and Greg Shcroeder, the disc is a country-rock romp -- one rife with all of country's drinking references, but not too much tear-in-beer malaise. It's a relatively swaggering effort, reliant mostly on King's gritty, and yet somehow comforting, coo.
And thank goodness for that: There's a decent amount of pressure on the disc's release, thanks in large part to a Deep Ellum mural painted back in June that immortalized King's image well before her first album's arrival that had some questioning if she deserved that kind of treatment.
Prior to the Saturday's album release party, which, in addition to a set from King, will also feature performances from Becker, Schroeder, Here in Arms and King collaborator David Ramirez, King's been kind enough to pass along the disc's closing number, "Nazarene" as a free download to DC9 readers.
Grab it after the jump.
