Poster of the Week: Girl Talk at the Granada

girltalkgranada711.jpg
Pretty sure you guys know by now about the Girl Talk show going down at the Granada Theater tonight. We've sure talked about it enough this week...

So, on that note, this will be the last time we mention it. Promise. (Not counting tomorrow morning's show review.)

Designed by local graphic designer Caleb Wills, this week's winning poster is certainly an eye-catching design. From the bold red-letter text to the mixer dripping with batter to the darkly lit moon in the background, it all scores.

And, better yet, it makes sense as a design. The show is being sponsored by 7-Eleven's Slurpee MixMaker (hence the $7.11 ticket price), which, surely, is where the idea for the mixer covered in batter came from. Or, perhaps, it's a reference to headliner Girl Talk's mixing abilities? Not sure.

Still, it sings.

Our only complaint is that opening act The Cool Kids, who are pretty damn awesome in their own right, got the shaft on this poster, not even meriting a mention. Oh, well. Next time? Hope so.

Think your poster is better than this one? Want to see one of your designs get honored next week? Drop us an email with an image promoting an upcoming show right here. Cool? Cool. Thanks!
