This Week In Dallas Music History: Ex-Killbilly Member Richard Hunter Runs For Fort Worth Office -- No, Seriously
Unfair Park guy Robert Wilonsky covered the story leading up to the election, where -- you guessed it -- Hunter lost.
According to the story, nobody liked Hunter's chances in the first place. After all, would you vote for the guy pictured in the bottom right corner of that photo posted to the right? Much to Hunter's surprise, though, people actually took him seriously.
"The amazing part about the campaign is I knew that I was going to approach this seriously, that this was not a novelty," Hunter says. "But I was prepared for more of a resistance from the Fort Worth establishment, and it's been exactly the opposite"One of his biggest platforms: "I want a more comprehensive and aggressive approach to spaying, neutering, and adopting unwanted animals," he says.
His love for animals wasn't enough to get him into the office, but it has stuck with him after all these years. Hunter recently turned up in the news, criticizing Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway for giving the key to the city to convicted dog-hurter Michael Vick.
