BREAKING NEWS: The Secret Machines Haven't Broken Up. Quite The Opposite.

Categories: DFW Music News

It's a fair question: With Brandon Curtis off playing in Interpol, Benjamin Curtis long gone and in his own School of Seven Bells project (who'll play the Homegrown Fest in Dallas this weekend), Josh Garza reportedly spending his 2010 working with members of Elefant and Monster Magnet, and, as of today, Philip Karnats now officially a member of Tim DeLaughter's new band, Preteen Zenith, what, then, of the New York-based, Dallas-sprung Secret Machines? Are they done for?

The answer, turns out, is no, according to one source close to the band.

"They pretty much have an album in the can," says the band's booking agent, Andrew Skikne of The Agency Group. "But Brandon's so busy with Interpol, he's just waiting to get back so he can get started in the mixing process, and maybe add in some extra vocals."

But are they done for? No, Skikne says.

"It's Interpol," he says, explaining why the band members are scattering about at the moment. "That's the hold-up."
