Chromeo and Erykah Badu Set To DJ Rio Room's Grand Opening Tomorrow Night

Chromeo and Erykah Badu, together at last.

Back in August of 2009, the uptown ultralounge known as Suite closed down its operations -- and rather suddenly, you may recall. But the club's Travis Street location wasn't vacated for too long: Back in February of this year, the space was up and running once more during Super Bowl weekend, hosting performances from the likes of Diplo and Cee-Lo Green, and now operating under the name of the Rio Room.

Turns out, though, that was just a sample of what was to come of the space. Tomorrow night, the club formally opens once more -- officially and for real this time -- under the Rio Room banner. And folks behind the club are celebrating their grand opening in style, with DJ sets from Erykah Badu and Chromeo. (Interesting sidenote: A-Trak, brother of Chromeo's Dave1, was in town to DJ just last week, too.)

Unfortunately, getting into the venue tomorrow night won't be especially easy.

"Our capacity is only 300 people," says Parker Lawson, entertainment director for Headington Companies, which, in addition to Rio, owns the Joule Hotel, the Lumen Hotel, the PM Nightlife Lounge and the Charlie Palmer's restaurant at the Joule. "It is invite-only and for people with table reservations."

(Reserve a table here.)

But, Lawson says, those who make it into the club -- either tomorrow night or in the weeks and months to come -- will notice that it's a different space than Suite was.

Says Lawson: "We did a complete renovation of the space."
