Watch: Josh T. Pearson Performs "Thou Art Loosed / Rivers Of Babylon" in French Church

Yesterday, Josh T. Pearson's new record Last Of The Country Gentlemen saw it's release in Europe on Mute Records -- kind of odd, though, that he's not anywhere in the continent.

He was actually spotted a few times at 35 Conferette in Denton this weekend -- a quick visit to his hometown before he makes his way down to Austin for SXSW, where he'll try to generate some buzz for the American release, out March 29. But, to tide you over, as we have already done quite a bit as of late, we've got yet another video of Pearson performing in a church in France for the Le Cargo blog.

This time, he takes "Thou Art Loosed," the first song on his album, and blends it with an old hymn, "Rivers Of Babylon." And then he adds in a few verses from the good book for good measure. The result is a haunting and beautiful performance.

And, as you're likely to see if you put in the 10 minutes it takes to watch the thing, Pearson's performance has a way of drawing a connection to his downtrodden spirit, painting a vivid picture of brokenness as well as hope therein. In next week's paper version of DC9, we'll have Pearson's thoughts on the release of Last Of The Country Gentlemen, as well as a full review. But until then, hit the jump to see another of his stirring performances.
