Tonight, Tonight: Eight-Track Museum Grand Opening with The O's and the Tom Tom Club

Not too much happening on the local music dial tonight. Just one note of significance, really. But it's of some pretty big significance, as you no doubt already know, if you've read the cover story in this week's print edition.

The O's and Stu Dicious and an appearance from members of the Tom Tom Club at the Eight-Track Museum (2630 E. Commerce St.)
Tonight's biggest event is sort of romantic -- albeit of a different sort than you'd expect on this holiday-ish evening. After a soft opening on Christmas Day, tonight marks the official grand opening of Bucks Burnett's long-time-in-the-making Eight-Track Museum in Deep Ellum, and Bucks has gathered quite the crew to help him celebrate. Starting at 7 o'clock in the museum, attendees, after paying a $20 cover, will be treated to autograph signings with Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club, as well as with local folk duo The O's. (Both acts are releasing limited eight-track runs of their new discs on Burnett's eight-track label, Cloud 8, with the former releasing 30 eight-track copies of their new Tom Tom Club live album, Genius of Live, and the latter putting out a small run of 8 tapes for their new Between The Two release.) The O's, along with local oddball pop singer-songwriter Stu Dicious, will also perform in the museum space, which will be fully open for viewing.
