Toward the beginning of last night's show at the Palladium, as Daniel Huffman's New Fumes project washed the slow-to-arrive Flaming Lips crowds over with his own, instrumental brand of psychedelic pop, Good Records, Polyphonic Spree and Tripping Daisy mastermind Tim DeLaughter was ambling about the floor, taking in all he could -- perhaps as a means, simply, of gauging the crowd's reaction to Good Records Recordings' most recent signee.

"He sounds great!" DeLaughter enthusiastically shared, clearly excited at the prospect of this new project's potential.

But, turns out, he's got plenty more up his sleeve. And it all has to do with the fact that Good Records Recordings recently announced that it would be moving away from releasing music in album format, instead choosing to go the singles route with each of its releases.

In short: DeLaughter's got a slew of singles he himself plans on releasing on his label in the not-too-distant future.

Currently, DeLaughter said, he's got three projects on his plate -- a solo project, some new Polyphonic Spree songs and also some new material from another, third, new band with which he's currently tinkering.

Which, sure, sounds like a lot. Of course, when that much was pointed out, DeLaughter smiled and return-volleyed that, actually, it's quite the opposite. Time, he said, is on his side.

"I'm releasing singles now," he said, referencing the new business model. "I can do whatever I want."
