Tonight, Tonight: Joe Satriani at the Granada Theater, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger at Dan's Silverleaf, Leg Sweeper at Canton Co-Op

Not the craziest Tuesday night we've ever seen, no. But there are at least two cool touring shows coming through tonight. And, for a third option, you can help a favorite local act kick off its own tour.

Joe Satriani with Ned Evett & Triple Double at The Granada Theater
If you caught my earlier Q&A with guitar hero Joe Satriani, you know that this guy takes his craft seriously. Ever since his breakthrough album, 1987's Surfing With the Alien, Satriani has been amazing audiences with his ever-impressive technique and breakneck fretwork. As an in-demand session player, Satriani has played with everyone from Mick Jagger to Blue Oyster Cult. Satriani is currently out on tour in support of his new effort, Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards. When this solo tour finishes, Satriani will rejoin Sammy Hagar in the super group Chickenfoot.

The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger at Dan's Silverleaf
With the recent anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon, it's interesting that Sean Lennon is drawing some attention for his own music rather than just for being John's son. The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger is Sean's duo with his girlfriend, model Charlotte Kemp Muhl. One should applaud the young Lennon for not touring under his own name, but whether or not bringing along your hot girlfriend for the ride is a good idea is another matter. Luckily, the pair's music isn't the pretentious mess it could have been. Sean Lennon is a capable pop tunesmith, and tonight's acoustic affair will give him a chance to demonstrate his compositional skills.

Leg Sweeper, B L A C K I E and Xry at Canton Co-Op
A couple weeks back, we mentioned that Leg Sweeper would be kicking off its upcoming tour tonight at an undisclosed location, with some help from Houston's B L A C K I E and San Antonio's Xry, two acts that, while not quite as punk rockin' as Leg Sweeper, revel in similar party-starting spirits. So, indeed, tonight's show, which will now take place at Canton Co-Op (2703 Canton St. in Deep Ellum), should make for quite the time. Entrance to the party, which kicks off at 8 o'clock, is $3 to $5, with spare change encouraged. Why spare change? We have no idea.
