Show Announcements: Prince, Menkena, Sarah Jaffe, Toro Y Moi, Victor Wooten, Mike Watt & The Missingmen, Hayes Carll, Underoath, New Science Projects & More!

princeprofile.jpg
As Robert already mentioned a few days ago, Prince will be here soon, reliving his much blogged-about 1984 concert at Reunion Arena on Friday, February 4.

One minor snag, though: Reunion Arena was demolished a few years back. No matter -- the show must go on.

Prince will set up a huge tent on the site of the former arena, and perform for some very VIPs. How vippy? Well, the price of the tickets could be enough to rebuild Reunion Arena. The cheap ones start at $1,500. The best seats are going for $25,000.

Or you could just go get a luxury vehicle.

In less expensive concert news, for only $10, you can see Menkena, Novaak, and Mike Graff perform at La Grange on Saturday, January 22. Jimmy Menkena, who has been promising the release of his new record With You I'll Travel for quite some time, will finally celebrate the album's completion at this show. So bring some extra cash and grab a copy while you're at it.

Thanks for the mention about the Poor David's show on Jan 21st. John Pointer, Shelley King and Ginger Leigh are all from Austin, Texas. This will be a special songswap performance of great variety!

http://www.gleigh.comhttp://www.johnpointer.comhttp://www.shelleyking.com

"Leigh brings a new dimension to the music business with her material, a total vocal warrior whose bawdy, soulful voice is seamless and relentless with no apparent boundaries or borders. She just doesn’t sing a song, she literally pulls the nails out of the stage floor with a powerful, hell bent delivery that is tempered with a silky sexiness in all the right places. The highest compliment she could be paid is that she sounds like no one, copies no one, and works a production on a record like a fine violin. If there is any one artist in Austin right now that would be considered capable of becoming a viable, bankable nationwide star, it would be Ginger Leigh. Hands down.

Leigh is also known for her energetic stage persona, movement, constant involvement in every song, the total showman. Never a dull moment at a Ginger Leigh show with all that comes with the residue of a child of the renaissance. Coming from a multi-generational musical family, she had a full understanding at a very young age of what it takes to move life along one day at a time. That, along with diverse influences from the worlds of jazz, country, rock and blues have come together in this highly talented, gifted singer-songwriter for the betterment of all of us, the listeners. We’re the lucky ones."

"... It was hard to ignore Pointer's voice. One audience member who is a singer/performer in his own right, summed it up best. "Dude sung his ass off!" Yes he did!"The Scene - South Belt, Clear Lake, Galveston

"Austin gives birth to a lot of musicians. Some are good, some not so good, but there is only one John Pointer."Jack Frink - Envy Magazine

www.rootsville.beEuro Americana Chart Reporter The soulfulness of a gospel singer, overtaken by the fire of the blues within the sensibilities of roots music.......... guess who should be that......

Probably also the most clever person may not have an answer on that question but...that is the reason that Rootsville.be was born a few years ago, and with a pure conscience we can announce to the whole world that honor goes to none other than..... Shelley King.Again, she has written music history with the album '' Welcome Home ''.
