35 Conferette Adds Midlake Pal John Grant, Remix Fave Cut Chemist, Others To '11 Lineup.

A few more more acts of note have been added today to the bill of the 35 Conferette, which will overtake and, quite possibly, overwhelm Denton from March 10 through the 13.

And at least one of them has some local ties: John Grant, formerly of the Denver-based punk outfit The Czars, spent a good chunk of time living in Denton recently, hanging around the town while writing and recording his lauded solo debut, Queen of Denmark, which was released in April last year, and was recorded in Midlake's studio, with some of that band's members backing him up -- enough so, at least, that the album was initially promoted as a "John Grant with Midlake" recording. As the year progressed, the close relationship between the two acts was only highlighted, as the bands toured Europe together (where both enjoy extreme critical acclaim) and Grant began revealing how Midlake helped him turn his life around, after having entertained ideas of suicide. Last year, the proud-to-be-from-Denton Midlake served as the second headliners, behind the Flaming Lips, at the 35 Conferette, which was then called NX35.

Joining Grant on this bill is remixer and turntablist Cut Chemist, British psych-rockers Esben and the Witch, the bluegrass-y David Mayfield Parade, New York folk metal band O'Death, Seattle indie-folk group Ivan and Alyosha, Baltimore electro-pop act Adventure, bluesman and festival regular Possessed by Paul James, and Seattle singer-songwriter Mansions.

After the jump, check out the entire list of performers announced to date. And, while checking that list over, maybe you should ponder a few questions we've been wondering ourselves, notably "When are they going to announce the local bands?" and "Where the hell are they going to put all these touring bands?"
