This Week In Dallas Music History: The Best Local Records of 1999
In retrospect, the question probably should have read: "Will this year's best local acts survive the millennium?" The answer? Mostly no.
Great local bands of that era like Captain Audio, Chomsky, Little Grizzly, and Radish, are unfortunately no more. But there were a few acts on the Observer's list in '99 that are still kicking around -- some, quite strongly. Centro-matic's Will Johnson is as prolific as ever, and the Old '97s released one of their best records, The Grand Theatre, Vol. 1, this year. Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove's performance of their album, Auscultation Of The Heart was one of our top shows of 2010.
So, as we prepare our year-end lists for 2010, check out this list from 11 years back after the jump.
