Marget & The Nuclear So and So's have been making their signature indie folk chamber pop since 2005, and although they have garnered critical acclaim and respect for their songwriting from us, they haven't been so successful financially.

Considering that they're a seven-piece band that rides a self-bought school bus painted in black and aptly named "The Black Plague," maybe that isn't too surprising. We had a chat with the band last year and talked about mentality when it comes to making art and making money:

The Indianapolis-based band hopes its lack of financial success can be attributed to the changing dynamics of the music industry--two versions of its second album, Animal! and Not Animal, were released simultaneously last fall. The records share several tracks, though the playing order varies, and each has its own unique songs. This split is the result of an artistic disagreement with the band's label, Epic Records: Not Animal is Epic's choice; Animal! is the version the band wanted released. Continue Reading...

Tonight should find the group also playing music from its new, September-released disc, Buzzard. This album's the first to feature the band's new drummer, guitarist, and keyboardist, so it'll sure be interesting to see how the member changes affect the band live.

But, before that, people will get a chance to also enjoy opening act indie pop band Jookabox, who's sound is like a big-band garage version of Peter, Bjorn, & John. And five lucky DC9 readers have a chance to go to the show for free, courtesy of The Loft.
