The punk rockin' Denton ex-pats in the Riverboat Gamblers are no strangers to the folks at Spin--not, at least, since the music mag vaulted the band from small regional clubs and the pages of Alternative Press and into the limelight by naming the band one of the best live acts in America.

And the relationship's been maintained ever since: Last summer, when Spin released a free-to-download compilation of Purple Rain covers to celebrate that disc's 25-year anniversary, it tapped the Gamblers to cover Prince's "Let's Go Crazy."

Now, both the band and the magazine are at it again, collaborating in paying tribute to Epitaph Records' 30-year anniversary by putting together a Bad Religion compilation called Germs of Perfection: A Tribute to Bad Religion. The tribute, which also features, among others, Ted Leo and Tegan & Sara, will be available for download on October 19, and sees the Gamblers tackling "Heaven is Falling." Stream their pretty awesome take, as recorded in Cincinnati during an off-day from touring, after the jump.
