Good Friday: KBFB-97.9 FM The Beat's Custom Car Show, Analog Rebellion, Dead Twins, Goo Goo Dolls, Switchfoot, Green River Ordinance, The Budos Band, Tanya Morgan, Brave Combo, More!
Advanced tickets can be purchased for $17 at the event's website and, interestingly enough, at various Williams Chicken locations. Tickets purchased at the door will be $25.
Didn't get your '64 impala cleaned up in time for the car show? Well, here are some other shows we've already mentioned this week.
On Friday, Analog Rebellion will continue shedding his emo beginnings along with Archeology, Land Mammals, and Young and Brave at Hailey's Club.
On Saturday, Dead Twins will be kicking out the Led Zeppelin-by-way-of-Stone Temple Pilots jams at La Grange. But, if that's a bit too heavy for you, Fort Worth's Green River Ordinance is opening for Goo Goo Dolls and Switchfoot at Superpages.com Center.
And on Sunday, The Budos Band will be at the Granada Theater. Plus, as always, Ricky Derek will be at The Cavern.
More of this weekend's shows after the jump...
Daniel Ash, Viv Albertine, Mike Graff, Alpha Silence
Friday, August 20, at Trees
Looks like it's former members of awesome bands night at Trees tonight. Daniel Ash of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, Viv Albertine of The Slits, and Mike Graff of Course of Empire share this bill. Should be a pretty cool throwback show.
Drawn By Jaymz
Friday, August 20, at Bryan Street Tavern
Drawn By Jaymz seems like a bit of a recluse when it comes to playing shows. He has no problem cranking out two or three records per year, though. There's no telling what songs he'll play at this show, but he's got a ton to choose from.
Stop Child Trafficking Now with Rescue Signals, The Rumor, B-Hamp & more
Friday, August 20, at Curtain Club
The bands and hip-hop artists on this bill have teamed up with Stop Child Trafficking Now to raise awareness about the problem of child trafficking in the US. This should be a great show, and it's for an even better cause. Dustin Cavazos was originally scheduled to perform as well, but canceled last night.
Friday, August 20, at The Green Elephant
Brooklyn underground hip-hop trio Tanya Morgan will be passing though town tonight at the Green Elephant. Check out their hilarious Myspace-themed video for their song "We Be."
George Quartz, Darktown Strutters, Future Blondes, DJG
Friday, August 20, at Pastime Tavern
Looks like Pastime Tavern is starting to have some good shows again. With the booking help of Darktown Strutters singer Kara Howell and shows like this one, the place will be a solid concert venue before long.
Saturday, August 21, at All Good Cafe
Seems like the All Good Cafe is the perfect place to see Brave Combo. The carefree Austin-like atmosphere provides a great setting to chug a few cold Lone Stars and do the chicken dance.
The King Bucks
Saturday, August 21, at Adair's Saloon
The King Bucks gave up their usual residency at Adair's a while back, but this is a chance to relive the glory days--and practice your best line dancing moves.
Sinedown, Chevelle, Sevendust, Puddle Of Mudd
Sunday, August 22, at Verizon Theatre
People's butts will be rocked. Maybe.
Sunday, August 22, at Barley House
Looks like Taylor Young is breaking out on his own. Do I sense trouble in The O's' camp? Of course not. John Pedigo's probably playing somewhere else with one of his other 12 bands.
Sunday, August 22, at La Grange
La Grange has the pretty interesting idea to book bands during brunch on the weekends. Grant Jones and his acoustic guitar should go over real well as night owls nurse their weekend hangovers.
...and that's about it. Add more in the comments if you've got 'em. Otherwise, we'll see you on Monday.
