The Problem With... Nicki Minaj's "Your Love"

Count me among the thousands who've been charmed by Nicki Minaj's eyelash-batting. I swear, it's like she's that eyelash-implants girl from The Simpsons.

Nicki has been making rounds this past year releasing mixtapes and guesting on a bunch of tracks, including Luda's "My Chick Bad" -- where she's got some Freedy Krueger hands -- one track out of Xtina's latest forgettable album and that Pokemon track out of Young Money.

Nicki also released a single, "Massive Attack" -- which sounds nothing like the group Massive Attack. What the hell, Nicki!

Nicki's latest single, "Your Love" samples Annie Lennox's track "No More I Love You's." Here comes the rain, again?

The track has a few writing snags, like the constant repetition of the title phrase. No really, we hear "Your Love" 16 times each chorus.

The verses have their share of odd writing too; a Freudian line ("When he call me mama, I call him baby"), that Bruce Willis reference in the chorus, and one line I'm still trying to decipher ("Just left Money Gram in the Lemon Lam").

The video for the track has a pseudo-dojo getup that has more flying sheets than a Bed, Bath and Beyond caught in a tornado.

I don't know. I feel like I need support what she does because she's the most popular female face in hip hop right now, and might likely be the female rapper of this generation, if her album -- coming out this fall -- does well.

But something tells me that we might be only settling for her just because there's no other she-MC being marketed this much. It's like when we settled for Velvet Revolver before Chinese Democracy came out.

Also, might be because of those damn eyelashes.
