DOMAXXII: Announcing The Performers For Tuesday's Free-To-Attend Awards Ceremony...

We're just gonna keep bashing you over the head this week with more information and more reasons to attend Saturday's 10-hour, 46-band DOMA Showcase in Deep Ellum (example: buy your $10 all-access wristbands here), but, for now, a quick dalliance from that vendetta so we can bring some information on next week's free-to-attend and open-to-the-public DOMA Ceremony, which will be held next Tuesday night (on July 20) at the Granada Theater.

This, you should know by now, is the night where we announce the winners of this year's awards (voting is still open, by the way--and will be through the end of Saturday's showcase). And, just as in year's past, the night will be filled with more performances from this year's nominees. But, as opposed to year's past, where we showcased rather straight-forward sets from the nominee crop, we wanted to do something a little different, and a little more special.

The theme for this year's awards, you may have read, is mash-ups. And while that may have confused a tad thus far, now you'll know why: Next Tuesday' Awards Ceremony will feature five live mash-ups, where two nominated acts will join forces on stage, sharing a 20-minute slot, performing their own songs, and collaborating with one another for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. In addition to those live-mash-ups, we'll also be bringing back a favorite from last year's ceremony, in which we feature five more high-energy bands performing in the horseshoe-enclosed area toward the back of the Granada's floor.

After the jump, check out the lineup of bands performing at this year's awards. And, also, check out an embedded audio file, courtesy of our friends at The Indie-verse, who were kind enough to invite me on the air and join host Nick Carissimi all this week to help preview the crowded waters of this weekend's showcase.

Live mash-ups on the Main Stage:

  • The O's vs. Somebody's Darling!
  • RTB2 vs. THe BAcksliders!
  • galleryCat vs. Mount Righteous!
  • Dust Congress vs. Shiny Around The Edges!
  • Air Review vs. Smile Smile!

..and in "the pit":

  • Spooky Folk
  • Leg Sweeper
  • Descender
  • Whiskey Folk Ramblers
  • Bad Sports

Doors open at 8 p.m. See you there.

See you on Saturday, too. And, for a preview of that 10-hour affair, check this audio:
