Deep Snapper takes themselves seriously.
In this past week's paper, Jesse Hughey gave local Minutemen-adoring trio Deep Snapper's latest, Pi on the Side, an educated listen and found it to be a melange of "shouted vocals about politics and other nonsense, earworm melodies and breakneck drum-bashing with prominent bass and a heaping helping of distortion and feedback."

Which, in this case, is a good thing, maybe? Sure is, writes Hughey:
This is a band whose chief influence is '80s punk. Sings John Newberry: "My name is Ronald Reagn. I bet you thought I was dead." And you thought punk bands were done beating up on ol' Raygun... Reagan lives. Continue reading...
Indeed he does. If nothing else, this is definitely one of the two best local songs to ever include the name Ignatius in the title.
