Midlake's Gear Gets Stolen In Columbus, Ohio

After their performance last night at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio, Midlake pulled their two vans into a Fairfield Inn parking lot. There, a hotel security guard assured the band that he would keep an eye on the vans overnight.

But when the band woke up this morning, the locks on their vans had popped. And gear their was missing.

"It's kind of funny that the first time we had a security guard watch our stuff was the first time our gear was stolen," says drummer McKenzie Smith over the phone on the drive from Columbus to Ithaca, New York.

The Denton boys think that foul play was at hand, and they've told us they'll keep us updated on any developments. Luckily though, not everything is gone--only their pedal boards, in-ear monitor systems, and the road cases they were in.

Doesn't sound like a lot, but considering the extent of Midlake's gear, it easily adds up to a few G's.

Earlier today, in reference to losing their gear, the band tweeted that "The show must go on." As such, we're still expecting a top-notch performance from them when they return to the region on Saturday, June 5, for a gig at the Palladium Ballroom.
