Giveaway: Three Pairs of Tickets to Tomorrow Night's Granada Theater Show With The Big Pink, A Place To Bury Strangers and Darktown Strutters


Tomorrow night, The Big Pink, whose 2009 debut, A Brief History of Love, made it into my top 10 list of albums from last year, will stop by the Granada Theater for a gig that finds the bombastic duo playing alongside the equally loud A Place to Bury Strangers from Brooklyn and Dallas' own outsider pop savants, Darktown Strutters.

Should be a good one, too, as Jeff Gage explains in this week's paper.
The word "subtlety" doesn't really factor into any description of The Big Pink. To begin with, the London duo produces an oversized, forceful sound between its two members, shamelessly following in the footsteps of multitudes of its Britpop predecessors. There's the My Bloody Valentine wall of guitar, the Stone Roses' percussive swagger and the white-noise drone of the Jesus and Mary Chain. Continue reading...
