After witnessing the mind-blowingly brilliant and colorful display that was the HEALTH show at the Boiler Room, it was off to Rubber Gloves to check out Houston's Indian Jewelry.

Upon arrival, there was a decent-sized crowd, the bar was busy, there was no seating, and the main room was half-full for the headliners. And despite many factors working against the band's set--having just experienced one of the most visually stimulating shows of my life, it being nearly 1 a.m. and I wasn't sure if there was anything else a band could do to impress me that late in the night--walking into the main performance room at RGRS was like walking into a scene from Lost Boys.

The entire room was engulfed in black with only a seizure-inducing strobe light providing momentary glimpses of the band as its members took turns singing, cackling and howling into its microphones.

Indian Jewelry's aggressive, experimental, little-bit-gothic, little-bit-industrial set had the crowd, and me, impressed. The end.
