Bonus MP3: Mount Righteous -- "Eat Your Wife and Kiss The Barbecue"
|The cover for Mount Righteous' new self-titled release... once you unfold it.|
But don't expect the same cupcakes-in-the-sky vibe of the band's debut, 2008's When The Music Starts. As the nine-piece explained to us a few weeks back when it stopped by El Sibil for our weekly video session, the band's been more on a polka-punk tip these days than the cheery, almost musical theater-y spirit of its remarkable debut. Coulda seen this coming, I guess: The band's aesthetic on the new album, which, like the first, was also produced by The Paper Chase's John Congleton, is more along the lines of its raucous late-2009 EP release, Open Your Mouth.
It's no less enjoyable, though. In fact, it might be even more so--in a very in-your-face sort of way, as you'll surely hear after the jump, where you can stream and download an mp3 of the band's new single, "Eat Your Wife and Kiss The Barbecue." You also might notice that the vocals come through a little more clearly this time around than on past releases from the outfit. That's because, as opposed to ambient room recording--as Congleton has employed in the past when recording the misfit collective--this one found the band employing individual track recordings for each of its parts.
Anyway, check it out.
