Originally, tickets for this year's second go-'round of the NX35 Music Conferette were supposed to go on sale yesterday. A few software glitches go in the way, but more important point is this: Tickets are now on sale, so go get 'em. Four-day passes will set you back only $65; single-night passes, rather, will cost you $20 a pop. Still, not bad, though, right?

OK. Maybe this will convince you to get on board: In addition to both the free shows from The Flaming Lips, Midlake and Stardeath & White Dwarfs and the 123-band-deep preliminary lineup announced on Monday, today comes news that Neon Indian's been added to the festival lineup. And more announcements are on the way: Sources close to the festival tell us that, in the next few weeks, festivalgoers can expect bands from local booking/management/label conglomerate Spune Productions to be added to the bill (read: Telegraph Canyon, Doug Burr, Glen Farris and Seryn), and, in addition to those, "at the very least, 15" more national acts will be added to the bill once SXSW's lineup is confirmed...

Neon Indian is the over-hyped and slightly disappointing "group" fronted by a guy who wears a really stupid leather vest. While slightly enjoyable, mostly Psychic Chasms pisses me off. I was always under the impression that if you were going to SELL your music, you must first make sure that the quality of production values were good enough that people wouldnt feel ripped off. Turns out you can make a fucking shit quality demo tape in your friends parents basement and everyone will be totally into it providing a pitchfork and/or weshotjr endorsement. Normally i woudnt mind this so much but that damn vest is so stupid!

actually, you can't make anything that sounds that shitty these days. it takes a lot of gear and/or money and/or time to make something sound like that.
