Giveaway: Five Pairs of Tickets to Friday Night's Granada Theater Show with The Cribs, Adam Green and The Dead Trees
In this week's dead tree edition of DC9 (out tomorrow in certain hotspots around the Metroplex!), you'll be able to read Doug Davis' profile on The Cribs, in which he and band bassist/vocalist Gary Jarman talk about the recent changes in the band's sound--and namely the recent addition of Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr into the fold, which has, in turn, found The Cribs heading into more filled-out, mature sonic territory.
Which is a sort of good/bad thing, even Jarman admits in the piece; some fans, already perfectly satisfied with the band's grimy indie-punk sound (check "Men's Needs" or the above anthem "Hey Scenesters), have questioned the change in direction. But, Davis argues in the story, the new disc, Ignore the Ignorant, is anything but a step backward. Rather, it's the opposite.
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners.
