The last crop we heard from Denton alternative rock band Exit 380 was the 2008 album Mr. and Mrs, Alexander Stone, a perplexing but ultimately satisfying concept record that even earned the band some hardware in the Fort Worth Weekly music awards.

For its follow-up, the four-piece led by intense front man Dustin Blocker has scaled back its ambitions and tightened up its Alice in Chains/Stone Temple Pilots-influenced attack.

Need proof? After the jump, check out this free mp3 the band passed along this morning. It's called "Street Trash View," and it's the opening cut on Exit 380's impression new EP, Cities Townies.

The official release of the EP comes in a couple of weeks--so look for my review of the disc in the print edition of the Observer very soon.

In the meantime, get out those lighters and bang your head slowly: Catch Exit 380 this Saturday at the Lakewood Bar and Grill opening for the great San Antonio band Two Tons of Steel.
