CD Source Celebrates 16 Years of Service on Saturday with Cool In-Store Concert
| Annie Benjamin |
Benjamin is a middle-class, middle-aged mother of two who somehow finds time for a solo career while also fronting the group Rocket Girl as well as a trio called Glitterhorn. She also sings and plays flute with Rahim Quazi and his band. Whew!
Benjamin's solo material is mainly mellow Americana/folk, but the gal can rock out on occasion, so hopefully she'll bring out the beat this weekend as the local music shop celebrates its 16th anniversary.
Despite the bad economy and various other occurrences (like a car crashing through the store's front window), CD Source has kept on rolling. Featuring the best selection of used discs in the area, plus a motley-but-knowledgeable collection of employees, CD Source is a haven for music geeks like me.
As for Saturday's show, Benjamin hits the stage at 1:30 p.m., followed by Montrose at 3 p.m. and Acoustic Distortion at 5 p.m.
Judging by the demise of so many local record stores, the fact that CD Source is approaching its second decade is pretty incredible.
