• There are numerous influences on Spinal Tap. Nigel Tufnel is a dead ringer for Jeff Beck if you see Beck talk. The movie "Let it Be" figured in. The Zeppelin "Song Remains the Same" was borrowed from, especially the Page violin bow sequence. (Or in the case of Tap, the entire violin!) There are many others. Most importantly, Black Sabbath actually used Stone Henge monoliths on a stage set in the early 70's. There's an absolutely hilarious interview with Ian Gillian about this on youtube. If you're a Tap fan, it's not to be missed. I love Jethro Tull, but Ian Anderson can be a bit of a prat sometimes.
