WTF? The purpose of this clip was to showcase a track from a local band (from a scene that is pretty obscure to the rest of the country) that made it onto a national show. Yes, you can hear it if you pay attention to the clip instead of trying to find some odd reference to Pantera, where is your head on that? Panthera is defined as the four dominant species in the feline group (lion, tiger, etc..) Where you even make that connection is mind-numbing. And dude, check your spelling, PWN, did you mean own? Too busy bagging a local act that doesn't register on your "cool" factor to pay attention to the press release.
It would OWN if you were supportive.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 5 2009 @ 10:51AMHey, every time I drive by the Panera Bread Co. chain, I think it would "pwn" if it was Pantera Bread Co. I'll have the "Vulgar Display of Chowder", please!

Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 5 2009 @ 1:19PMJustin, I'd like to remind you of an old saying, "there is no such thing as bad press." For the record I'm a fan of The Bright. Those guys (and gal) work their asses off to make things happen and I'm proud of them.
Keep in mind that while sometimes snarky, Pete does cover what The Bright (and many other bands) are up to. While I don't agree with everything he writes it's refreshing to have a music editor that actually cares about the scene (even if it is pretty obscure to the rest of the country).
The song in question starts at about :30 seconds and runs for about a minute. Btw, let me say that I don't watch shows on MTV and if this 2 minutes are any indication of where that network has gone....eeek.
Oh, and I'd like to thank you for the schooling Pete on the word panthera. It was fascinating. Now let me return the favor and give you a lesson straight from wikipedia:
Pwn is a leetspeak slang term derived from the verb "own", as meaning to appropriate or to conquer to gain ownership.
Used in a sentence: I guess you inadvertently pwned your yourself.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 5 2009 @ 1:22PMIs a liger a panthera? Because that's probably my favorite animal.
Posted On: Thursday, Nov. 5 2009 @ 2:34PMUh... Pwn means "perfectly own" as in, you just got perfectly owned for not knowing wtf you're talking about.
