Gig Alert: Soulsavers Featuring Mark Lanegan Tonight at House of Blues

Very few, if any, alternative rock icons have been as prolific and indisputably talented as Mark Lanegan. The former Screaming Trees frontman and sometime member of Queens of the Stone Age has a restless spirit that has led him to all avenues of artistic expression.

And each time, it seems, Lanegan succeeds thanks to a sincerity and humility missing from many in the field. After the Screaming Trees disbanded in 2000, Lanegan began a series of collaborations with artists such as Melissa Auf de Maur, Isobel Campbell, Martina Topley Bird and the electronic outfit Bomb the Bass. But two of Lanegan's most heralded partnerships include The Gutter Twins (with Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs) and Soulsavers, a British electronic duo whose 2006 album It's Not How Far You Fall, It's the Way You Land featured Lanegan on eight of 10 tracks.

Amazingly, Lanegan's whiskey-soaked, world-weary voice fit perfectly amongst the blurps and beeps of Soulsavers--who, with Lanegan in tow, stop on by the House of Blues this evening. With yet more rain in the forecast, consider this the perfect opportunity to soak in some of Mark Lanegan's impressive flair.
