Erykah Badu, Shiny Toy Guns To Face Off In Red Bull Soundclash Event At Victory Plaza On TX/OU Weekend

​We'd heard rumblings out of Erykah Badu camp about a free show at Victory Plaza in October, and, earlier this week, a press release from Red Bull confirmed as much: On Friday, October 16, Badu and The Cannabinoids will perform a free concert alongside Oklahoma's Shiny Toy Guns as a kickoff event to the weekend-long traffic nightmare that is TX/OU weekend.

It's kind of an interesting concept, too: There will be two stages--one adorned in burnt orange and featuring Badu and Co., the other in crimson and playing host to Shiny Toy Guns--and the two acts will go back and forth, performing a musical "conversation," or so the press release says, while indicating that it's a competition of sorts, but carefully avoiding using such a specific term.

Also, the presser announces that there's a rumor going around that it's hearing "rumblings of a surprise Michael Jackson tribute." Way to ruin it, huh?

Anyway, the gates to the outdoor performance open at 7 p.m., the show will start at 8, and the tickets--ah, here's the best part--are free, although you will need one to get in, "due to demand." How? According to the presser, they'll be handed out mostly via radio promotions, so keep an ear to the ground...
