Paul McCartney To Play Cowboys Stadium On Wednesday, August 19

Categories: DFW Music News

Another coup for that spaceship out in Arlington: It's the Beatle's first Dallas show since 2005, and his sole Texas stop on his current North American tour.

Perhaps most impresively, though, the press release announcing the show indicates that the concert should last a solid 2.5 hours.

Tickets go on sale Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. Press release after the jump...

Dallas / Fort Worth (Arlington), TX - July 8, 2009 - AEG Live and Live Nation, in cooperation with Marshall Arts, announced today that Paul McCartney is confirmed to play Cowboys Stadium on Wednesday, August 19th, 2009. This monumental event will be the legendary performer's first Dallas concert since 2005, and the only Texas performance of his current series of 2009 North American dates.

Tickets for the August 19th concert go on sale Monday, July 20 at 10:00AM and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or online at

The Cowboys Stadium show will feature classics from McCartney's extensive catalog, including Beatles, Wings and solo career hits as well as selections from his most recent album Electric Arguments, released under his alias The Fireman.

On the heels of Paul McCartney's three-date, sold-out run at New York's Citi Field in July, the August 19th North Texas performance will be among McCartney's first U.S. appearances since headlining this year's Coachella festival; as well as the same weekend's record-breaking opening of the Joint in Las Vegas. McCartney's additional upcoming North American concert dates include two shows at Boston's Fenway Park along with performances at Atlanta's Piedmont Park, FedEx Field in Landover, MD and Halifax Commons in Halifax, NS.

Reactions to McCartney's recent 2.5-hour, sold-out performances at Coachella and The Joint in Las Vegas were unanimously ecstatic from fans and critics alike:

"McCartney remains a sharp and agile performer, his voice as supple, warm and elastic as ever... Macca signatures Let It Be and The Long and Winding Road... still have the power to raise gooseflesh." -- USA TODAY

"The verdict from his Coachella debut on Friday? Never underestimate the power of a Beatle... The night belonged to Paul." -- LOS ANGELES TIMES

"For almost two and a half hours, he had the attention of what seemed to be the entire multigenerational festival" -- THE NEW YORK TIMES

"Everything you could ask for in a McCartney set. Stunning. Beautiful." -- LA WEEKLY

"The concert of a lifetime" -- LAS VEGAS CITYLIFE

You people are crazy.  These images of Paul McCartney are not right!  That is not way he looked.  Why are you changing his images now?

A well planned blog site, placing it in the useful reference section of my web site.

So once again we poor folk who have scrimped and saved and bought everything the artist ever did - from 45 to CD - are pretty much squeezed out of the picture. We're not good (rich) enough.

Oh, well. Who wants to see a show in a freakin' football stadium, anyway?

Does anyone know who is going to be opening for him in Dallas??
