• Wilco lost it's greatness when Bennett was kicked out... He was one of the best musicians ever and it's a damn shame he's gone...

• Jay Bennett was one of Wilco's greatest assets and certainly a very unsung hero. Fans have Bennett to thank for the experimental greatness of YHF, the gobsmackingly gorgeous effort between the band and Bragg on Mermaid Ave, and the outstanding Summerteeth. Damn shame the man had no health insurance and an even greater shame that his solo work never garnered the attention that it so truly deserved.

• wow.jay bennette dead. he was a much bigger player in Wilco than many people care to remember. his first two solo cds are outstanding efforts, full of pathos and bite. i still want to punch tweedy even time i watch that documentary. that movie waws edited to make bennett look bad, like he was some kind of rocker and tweedy was the sensative artist who needed to break free of rock's conventions. pleeeeze. anyhow. sad news indeed.
