I drove by the event, there was at least 10 cop cars in the area, what a waste of resource. Im guessing avi or some other "civic minded" old bastard of a neighbor called in the noise complaint, and people wonder why Dallas is a laughing stock when it comes to modern pop culture..

Wel it started because of a fight that broke out, then someone threw a waterbottle at a cop car. then they got mad.

I read we are trying to add more police officers around here. All I see EVERYDAY is: Skillman (speedtrap), Royal and 75 (speedtrap), Arapaho (speedtrap), Beltline in Addison (sptrp), Beltline in Richardson (sptrp). Midway, last Saturday morning, speedtrap. Maybe me should have less police if this is all there is to do.

That story, the accompanying videos (see the comments on the photo set on DC9 and the video linked in the comment above are documentations of such complete horseshit. The cops went there hoping a riot would beak out and when it didn't they couldn't turn back, they had to arrest folks for gawking and asking questions. Now it's all on video and the news. They gambled hoping to get some idiots in the crowd to act as they expected. Well there seems there weren't any idiots in this crowd until the cops showed up. They went all in on the idiot label and lost. I have not seen something this ridiculous since the Twilight Room days when we all would get lined up and searched (400 punks, skaters, goths and mods kids of all colors, put me in the skatepunk garb). They would pick guys out and declare them under arrest for concealed weapon charges. What was the weapon? A cheap studded belt, not spiked even...studded, with hollow studs made of tin. I have seen quite a few instances dumb police shit in my life, cops destroying property at the Royal Rack while their badge numbers had electrical tape placed over them, biased and conspiratorial behavior towards the Delta Lodge and Fry street Fair. It's not as bad as some communities see and deal with, especially with me being college hopping white boy from LH high school. But I ran in enough circles to see police behavior that was downright infuriating. In every instance it was the same thing, cops show up in trying to provoke a response and when they can't get what they want they go apeshit in frustration trying to squeeze out some incident that justifies their biased, stereotyped, racist or downright ignorant opinion of the group they were targeting. These kids, I am proud of them, they stayed cool and let the video show the cops without them having some footage of a smashed cruiser window or officer getting attended from injuries to have flash all over the news basically nullifying any complaint these kids might have had. It only takes one person in the crowd to act a fool and that's ALL you will see on the news. Ask any protester who's message is lost because 15 idiots show up to a rally of thousands and that footage makes the news and tells the story. The camera lens has a very narrow field of view in those cases. These cops seem to forget over and over that it's not just the news and dash cams that have cameras these days and it is more than one narrow lens, its several hundred.
This ignorant brutish over the top "shock and awe" shit belongs back in the 80's where it belongs. When Dallas was cleaning up the town before the Republican National Convention (don't worry I know they would have done it for Dem convention too, its all about the city's image in the eyes of the leering world press and wealthy powerful guests) . So they set the police loose on all the punks, deviants, minorities and homeless hey could find and they broke many rules and skulls in the process.
Watching the videos not only makes me angry once again, but it also has a new feeling too, it's ..."annoying". You see it in some of the kids faces when the sirens start "Oh hell, here we go again" because they know what is going down because they have seen it before many times over. Its maddening, outrageous, absurd and for us folks that are used to this tired old BM ...it's "OBNOXIOUS"
I bet a supervisor was off duty that day, or had the flu. Because more often than not I have heard of or actually seen a higher up swoop in on these groupthink actions more than pissed off at their officers. I bet the guy/gal on duty down at the county jail was pretty angry too just like when those few DPD officers arrested the couple trying to leave their street and get to a wedding during Saint Patty's day. There are a bunch of good cops out there, unfortunately on this day none of them held any rank.
