Sound Bytes: Kelly Clarkson's Album To Hit No. 1; U2, Jonases, AC/DC All Confirmed For Cowboys Stadium Gigs

Categories: DFW Music News

Some quick news hits...
  • According to Billboard, the fourth full-length record from Burleson's own Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted, which was released just two days ago, will reach No. 1 on the trade magazine's album charts next week, with an estimated 200,000 records moved in its first week. It helps, no doubt, that Clarkson played Idol last night, Good Morning America on Tuesday, and is playing SNL on Saturday. It will be Clarkson's second album to reach No. 1; meanwhile, her 2007 release, My December, peaked at No. 2 on the chart.
  • Yesterday, the Morning News reported that both The Jonas Brothers and AC/DC are confirmed to perform at the new Cowboys Stadium this summer and that the organization was in talks to bring U2 in to town in the near future, as well. At this point, though, only the Jonases' date is set in stone--they'll play on Saturday, June 20, as the kickoff to their 44-date North American tour. No news on the AC/DC date just yet (although, given the band's current tour schedule, I'd guess it won't be until after June) or any specific U2 date. But, some encouraging news on the U2 front: Though, like AC/DC, the band hasn't yet announced a date for its Dallas show, its web site does now say that the band will be stopping in Dallas in either September or October. So consider that sucker confirmed, too.
