Yep. You read that right. This weekend, Frank Campagna will unveil the next mural in his Deep Ellum music series--which includes the likes of Rhett Miller, The Reverend Horton Heat, Lisa Loeb and others.

Right next to Deep Sushi, alongside images of Erykah Badu and Ronnie Dawson, will be the faces of John Pedigo and Taylor Young, whose duo has quickly become the latest sensation in the local music scene. The mural will be unveiled at 5 p.m. on Saturday, accompanied by a short live performance from The O's, just before the group holds its umpteenth CD release show that night (this one at the Double Wide).

Good for The O's, I guess? Sure. But if you're scratching your head as to why and how The O's earned this honor so quickly in the duo's career, well, I was too. No offense to the band, but, c'mon, this is all happening so quickly.

So I asked Campagna about it.

"[I] was just looking for an artist I could paint with a tree smack dab in the middle, so it had to be more than one," Campagna writes in an email response. "It also had to be someone other than a legendary rockabilly guy or an urban hip hop woman. Hence my friends The O's... who also happen to be on the upswing of their career."

Fair enough.
