Undone: A MusicFest Tribute to Robert Earl Keen hits the streets in a couple of weeks, and the double disk set features a handful of talented local artists, including Max Stalling, one of the area's best country singer/songwriters (who takes on "No Kinda Dancer," quite possibly Keen's most renowned number, accompanied by Arlington resident and hotshot guitarist Dale Clark) and way underrated Dallas tunesmith Darren Kozelsky (who performs an outstanding version of "Corpus Christi Bay"). Hopefully, this appearance will help more people find out just what a great talent Dallas has with Kozelsky.

Undone was recorded live last year in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and, besides the Dallas area talent already mentioned, it collects a relative who's who of the new generation of Texas Americana performers, including: Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Walk Wilkins, Randy Rogers, Roger Creager, Corry Morrow and Jason Boland. That's quite a lot of hayseed chutzpa.

The final five songs of the set are performed by Keen himself with some able assistance from Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed.

Robert Earl Keen has always done well in Dallas. Perhaps next time, he can record a show as stellar as this in his home state. Anyhow, (cowboy) hats off to the locals on this impressive set. --Darryl Smyers
