Giveaway: Two Pairs Of Tickets To The New Frontiers' Final Show In The History Of Ever.

In this week's paper, you'll see my countown of the eight biggest Dallas music scene stories of '08. But one of the more bizarre stories of '08 didn't appear on that list: The Rise and Fall of The New Frontiers.

The band's been around town for a few years, yeah, but 2008 sure seemed to finally be their year: great reviews of their February-released debut album Mending album from Spin, Paste, Under the Radar, Yahoo! Music and others; placement on an episode of MTV's The Real World.

It all seemed to be the start of something pretty big.

And then, in October, the band announced, to the surprise of pretty much everyone, that it was calling it quits--quite the shame, because, yes, as we've said before, Mending showcased quite a great blend of pop rock hooks and alt-country twang. Luckily, though, there's still one more chance--tomorrow night at Club Dada, alongside Gazelles, This Will Destroy You and Eleisha Eagle--to see The New Frontiers doing their live thing before it's over for good.

And, thanks to our friends at Method Entertainment who are putting this shindig together, we've got two pairs of tickets to give away.

First two people to email me with "The Final Frontier" in the subject line get a pair each. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners. --Pete Freedman
