Weekend Roundup: The Black Crowes, One Percent Band, Slow Burners
If you read our Good Friday column, you know there was a lot going on this weekend. However, we were obviously too busy actually seeing it to record and post it. But here's a sampler platter of what the weekend in the world of Dallas music was like. A yummy sampler platter. Skip the carrot sticks. They're a little gummy.
Black Crowes, Friday at the Palladium
It's hard not be enthusiastic when the crowd is already totally sold. Even watching the video you can feel the excitement. While it's no turkey dinner, the Black Crowes can certainly turn on the sparkle. I'm giddy just from watching it.
One Percent Band, Friday at Firewater
Here's One Percent, doing their best Skynyrd impression and performing the song "The Needle and the Spoon." It's all well and good but my favorite part's the lead singer's T-shirt. It's all Johnny Cash cool and I like that shirt. Sure are a lot of strings onstage, and there are these fancy crowd shot fades showing people having fun. Methinks some video person put some effort forth here.

Darn. The video is so short. Doesn't even cover the whole song. Darn.
The Devil Wears Prada, Saturday at the Palladium Ballroom
OK, these guys give head-banging a little something extra. How so, you ask? Well, they're choreographed and synchronized so that the entire band is doing it at the same time. Are they as fun as Meryl Streep playing that other devil of fashion? No, but then few are.
Slow Burners, Saturday at Dan's Silverleaf
Meanwhile, out Denton way, the Slow Burners were having a fine time onstage at Dan's Silverleaf.
Here they are performing "Captain Jack." A fine time indeed.
And since the video people seem to be in a pre-turkey lethargy (the warm-up round, so to speak) that was your weekend. --Dianna Wray
